Season the roast as soon as you remove from the fridge.
Sear the roast in a 500 deg F oven for about 10 to 20 minutes depending on size.  This may cause a lot of smoke so from the oven so make sure the vent is on or a window open.
Reduce the heat to 325 deg F and cook until the internal temp is about 115 deg F (rare), 130 deg F (medium).
Let the roast rest for 15 to 20 minutes before cutting.
Also you can use a smoker.
Use Worcestershire sauce and cover the prime rib evenly. Put the roast with fat side up in the smoker and smoke until the thickest part attains 130-135 degrees F. The time of smoking depends on the size of the roast. The average time is about from 2 to 3 hours at a temperature of 225 degree F. to 250 degree F.
Take it out of the smoker and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Let the roast rest in a warm place for about 20 to 30 minutes. Cut in slices and serve.
